Construction is Underway!
We officially broke ground on the Miracle Field with a community-wide celebration on August 6 th . Nearly 400 friends joined us for the morning’s festivities, including spunky 6-year- old Weston Donolli, who will be among thousands of kids who will benefit from this multipurpose facility. To date, we have raised just over $800,000 toward this phase of the project, and will continue to work to raise an additional $400,000 to support construction of the field and adjacent amenities (accessible restrooms concession stand and pavilion).
Taylor the Builders began construction shortly after the ceremonial groundbreaking. So far, we have established the replacement field, and grass has been planted and is already growing. The Miracle Field is approximately 50% complete, with all earthwork completed, and the playing area and parking lot ready for the asphalt binder. The concrete walkways are nearly complete, giving connectivity to the playground area and parking lot. Electric, water and sewer work have been completed as well.
As we finish up work this fall, we are already planning to begin again in the spring, with the asphalt topcoat and rubberized grass surface to be applied to the field when the weather breaks next year. The fencing, dugouts, scoreboard and flagpole will be installed and the main bridge to the field will be replaced next year as well. The restroom, concession stand and pavilion will also be constructed in the spring. This will complete phase one of the project.
We look forward to opening the field in 2017 and will then refocus our energies on raising funds for our community’s first and only barrier-free playground!
